Stephensons support a local scheme. Want to go on a Wolf hunt?... Click HERE for more information!

To operate our new services in  the Braintree area we are looking to recruit qualified pcv drivers.  We are offering a £1,000 welcome bonus (subject to terms & conditions, naturally).

If you want to be part of a small team at a local depot driving our regular customers to school, work or the shops, and can deliver service with a smile, then get in touch now! You’ll need a current driver CPC card and the ability to obtain a DBS clearance.  It’s also essential you’re reliable and enthusiastic.

In exchange for your commitment, we offer:

  • 4 or 5 day minimum working week
  • Work that gives you a social life (typically our shifts start no earlier than 6am, and are fnished by around 8pm, with no scheduled Sunday work)
  • Company uniform, free Transport Benevolent Fund membership (after qualifying service), Travel concessions
  • £9.80 per hour including performance bonus, with plenty of hours for those who want them!
  • Small depots and rotas where you’re a name not a number, working for a local company
  • We also have part-time/casual positions and will consider non PCV licence holders for training.

If you think we might get on with each other, call 01702 541511, or click HERE for more information and to download an application form.  We also have vacancies at other depots.

Following publication of our plans to start new services to replace routes that First Buses are giving up, we\'ve been approached by passengers, parish and town councils, and we have had discussions with the County Council.  As a result of that feedback we became aware that there would be a serious gap in the services between Braintree and Halstead, especially for Bocking Church Street and Gosfield.

As a result, to meet these community needs, we have decided to expand our plans and intend to run an hourly service beyond Braintree through to Halstead, continuing from Bocking (Deanery Gardens) through Bocking Church Street, High Garrett and Gosfield, and serving Colne Road in Halstead, to replace First Buses 131/2.  We are currently awaiting approval from the bus industry regulator for the new timetable and will publish full details as soon as that approval is granted.

In addition, to response to requests for improved connections at Witham Station from Silver End and in Braintree onto First bus 70 to Broomfield Hospital, we plan to retime the first two morning buses between Witham and Braintree and vice versa.  Again, this is subject to approval and we will publish updated times in due course.

Starting Tuesday September 15th, for an interim period, our bus service 701 will be operated by Panther Travel on our behalf, normally with one of their white and blue liveried buses.  There are no changes to the times, route or fares and our tickets continue to be valid on the bus.

Bus 38 is being extended from Witham on to Braintree and this will mean new times for the off-peak buses in Witham to and from Allectus Way.  But don\'t worry, buses will still run every 30 minutes.  The new times can be viewed HERE.

For times of the service right through to Braintree, please see our separate Braintree news item.

Buses 9 and 10 coming from Great Notley towards Braintree will be diverted to run direct from London Road to the Bus Park and will NOT serve the stops in Rayne Road and Coggeshall Road.

This is a temporary measure whilst work is carried out on the traffic lights at the London Road / Pierrefitte Way / High St junction, which we expect to cause delays to buses.

The diversion will only last whilst the roadworks are in place, for about 6 weeks.

Buses towards Great Notley are NOT affected but might be delayed slightly.

From the start of the autumn term, on bus cash fares to most schools that we serve in Essex will be increasing, generally by 10p (single) or 20p (return).  To get the best value, why not buy a term ticket, which offers a discount over paying daily.  To see prices for your specific journey, go to the ticketing section of our website HERE.

If you are paying daily, please help to keep the bus on time by having the correct money ready, if possible.  The driver can only carry a limited amount of change.  Thanks!

[Different fares increases apply to buses 417/418/419 and the new Maldon-Heybridge-Hatfield Peverel to Chelmsford 673].

From the start of the new school term, the day and weekly fares on buses 14/15 (and variations of those routes) will be increased to:

Student day return £6.20

Student weekly ticket £28.50.

Please help the driver by having the right money ready if possible.

Our Dengie shopper bus routes do NOT run during the summer school holidays.

The last days each will run before summer are Thursday July 16 and Friday July 17.

Services then restart on Thursday September 3, 2015.

Happy Summer from all your drivers!
