Over the Easter Holiday, Stephensons buses will run as follows:
Good Friday, April 18 - no service except routes 6 & 61 in Southend
Saturday April 19 - normal Saturday service on all routes
Easter Sunday, April 20 - NO SERVICE (buses 6 & 61 are NOT running today as the Fossetts Park shops are closed)
Easter Monday, April 21 - no service except routes 6 & 61 in Southend
Tuesday April 22 onwards - normal schoolday services on all routes. King Edmund School pupils on buses 807-814 are reminded that morning buses will be running 15 or 30 minutes earlier due to roadworks.
From April 23 until April 29, Warren Road will be closed south of Red Lodge. Buses will instead divert via Dane Hill Road and Turnpike Road. We will still serve all our normal stops within Red Lodge, but the diversion is likely to take about 10 minutes longer than normal.
Therefore buses towards Mildenhall from Red Lodge, and buses into Bury from stops after Red Lodge, will run a bit late. We apologise for any inconvenience but the closure is beyond our control.
Normal times will be resumed as soon as the road reopens, which may be before April 29 if we are lucky!
April 23: the roadworks have finished and services are running normally again.
Roadworks started in Witham on Monday March 31 at the junction of Spinks Lane, Howbridge Road and Hatfield Road and the temporary traffic lights are causing very serious delays to buses 38, 39 and 90. At present we cannot see any way to divert to avoid the works. We therefore regret that buses may be running up to 15 minutes late.
We apologise for the inconvenience and delays but these are totally outside of our control. We understand the work is scheduled to take 16 weeks!
From April 7th we are making some changes to Blackwater Link bus 90 to improve the reliability of the service. We are adding extra time into the journeys to try to avoid the late running that sometimes affects the route. The basic frequency is unchanged but times at individual stops may be a few minutes different to the present timetable. We are also adding an extra bus from the Howbridge Estate into Witham at 0916 on Mondays to Fridays.
In Maldon, the route in the Dorset Road area is being simplified. Buses will all go as a one-way loop via Essex Road (southbound), Dorset Road, Viking Road, Cumberland Avenue and Washington Road. Buses will only go along Essex Road and Dorset Road once, so please board on the correct side of the road. Buses will no longer go along Longship Way or Midguard Way but there are stops nearby in Dorset Road.
New timetables weill be available from drivers nearer to the start date and you can view the details here now.
This road closure has now finished and Suffolk Rider bus 16 is running normally again.
This road closure has finished earlier than anticipated. Buses ae now running by the normal route again.
Monday March 3 to Friday March 21 UPDATED: will continue on at least Monday March 24 and Tuesday March 25
Due to the closure of Mayes Lane, Danbury (from the A414 at Eves Corner) the following changes will apply:
504 - starts 5 minutes EARLIER at all stops from Wickham Bishops to Danbury and is diverted in Danbury. Passengers boarding at the Eves Corner stop should wait at the Chelmsford bound stop on the A414 instead of in Mayes Lane;
514 - will be diverted via Well Lane and will not stop at Eves Corner - use bus 504 instead;
602 - will be diverted direct via the A414.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure which is outside of our control.
Due to resurfacing work on Sutton Road, bus 60 will be diverted off-peak from Monday February 17 to Friday February 21. It will not serve Sutton Cemetery or Temple Farm Industrial Estate. Instead, buses will run via Eastern Avenue, Priory Crescent, Manners Way and Southend Road to Rochford. Passengers for Sutton Cemetery stop should alight on Eastern Avenue or use bus 61 instead.
The diversion will apply from the 0915 bus from Southend until 1530. The morning peak bus and afternoon buses from 1600 onwards are NOT diverted.
We apologise for inconvenience caused by this road closure, which is not in our control.
We understand that Cloes Lane has now reopened to traffic, route 704 will now return to its planned route.
