Due to a closure of the southern end of Little Wakering Road during the week commencing the 24th October, our 14 bus will divert along Barrow Hall Road and Southend Road.

The closure will cause delays to the timetable, Coronation Close will not be served.

Passengers who board at Coronation Close should make their way to the stop on Little Wakering Road which is close to the parade of shops.

This diversion will remain in place for the duration of the road closure, only.

We are pleased to announce that, with the support of Essex County Council, our schedules for services 301, 441 and 446 have been revised.

The new timetables will come into effect on Monday the 17th of October; we trust that these alterations will bring an improvement to punctuality of arrivals at Joyce Frankland Academy and Saffron Walden County High School.

Additionally, service 301 will now stop opposite S.W.C.H.S Monday to Friday on the Home to School a.m. journey (07:38 from Bishops Stortford). An adjustment to the afternoon return trip will better coincide with the school closing times.

We will continue to monitor the performance of these services following the timetable alterations.

For the duration of the Station Road closure, it is with regret that we will be unable to serve Little Dunmow.

Buses in either direction will have to turn at the Baynard Road junction. They will wait for the scheduled departure time there.

The works are scheduled to commence on the 25th August and a planned to continue for a period of 6 weeks.

We are sorry for the disruption, however, the road closure is beyond our control.

Details of the traffic order can be found here

As of Monday 8th August 2016 many Stephensons local bus fares will be subject to change to reflect increases in operating costs.

In most cases, there will be an increase to the standard single and return fares.

Due to the closure of Howbridge Road and/or Laurence Avenue for roadworks, bus 90 will be diverted from Saturday July 30th until Saturday August 6th.

Buses will instead run along the full length of Maltings Lane and then into Witham along Hatfield Road from the Jack & Jenny stop.

We are sorry, but this means that there will not be any buses along Howbridge Road and Laurence Avenue whilst the roadworks are taking place.  We apologise for the inconvenience but the circumstances are beyond our control.

UPDATE AUG 15:  the work has not yet been completed, buses are still on diversion.

Due to the closure of Church Street where it joins the A131 at the Four Releet from August 1st for about 12 days for roadworks, buses 38 and 38A will be diverted.

Within Braintree they will run to the usual route including serving Deanery Gardens but then will divert at Deanery Hill via Church Lane, past Braintree College, Convent Hill and Broad Road to rejoin the usual route at the Four Releet on the A131.

We are sorry, but this means that there will not be any buses through Bocking along Church Street whilst the roadworks are taking place.  We apologise for the inconvenience but the circumstances are beyond our control.

From Monday August 1st there is a small but important change to the times of one morning bus on service 60.  The bus which leaves Paglesham at 0916 will run as normal from there to Wallasea but will then continue immediately on to Canewdon, Rochford and Southend and will no longer stand at Wallasea.

This means that this morning bus will run 8 minutes EARLIER at all stops from Wallasea onwards.  So for example, it will pick up at Canewdon Anchor at 0938 and Stambridge Royal Oak at 0944.  The full revised timetable can be viewed HERE.

The changes applies all days Monday to Saturday.  There are no other changes to the 60 & 60A buses.

From Monday August 1st we are making minor adjustments to the times of the Stephensons operated trips on service 91.  We will still run the same number of trips but the times are adjusted slightly to better match the timetable to traffic conditions.  You can see the new times HERE.

Please note that the Hedingham Omnibuses operated trips have a new timetable which started on July 25, see details HERE.  Do NOT use the times shown there for the Stephensons trips as the old times are still displayed - please refer to our new timetable as above.

Local independent bus company Stephensons of Essex has raised £500 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, following its popular Olympian Running Day around Bury St Edmunds on 4th June.

Six of Stephensons remaining double-deck Olympian buses, due to be withdrawn this year, provided the service on routes between Bury and Haverhill/Newmarket.  In addition a guest Olympian from Fords Coaches provided free tours around Bury town centre.

Managing Director Bill Hiron commented:  We were delighted to see so many people riding on and photographing these fine old workhorses – not just bus enthusiasts, but members of the public taking in the atmosphere on what was a fine sunny day.  To raise £500 for such a worthy cause as the local Air Ambulance was an added bonus, and our thanks go to everyone who bought day tickets, souvenir brochures, or just donated on the day.

We are experiencing delays and short notice diversions to various bus services today due to flooding after last night\\\'s storm.  Services in the Maldon area are particularly affected, including the 90 and 288, with services D1 & D2 getting back to normal.

Please bear with us, your drivers are doing the best they can in difficult circumstances.
