From Monday August 1st there is a small but important change to the times of one morning bus on service 60. The bus which leaves Paglesham at 0916 will run as normal from there to Wallasea but will then continue immediately on to Canewdon, Rochford and Southend and will no longer stand at Wallasea.
This means that this morning bus will run 8 minutes EARLIER at all stops from Wallasea onwards. So for example, it will pick up at Canewdon Anchor at 0938 and Stambridge Royal Oak at 0944. The full revised timetable can be viewed HERE.
The changes applies all days Monday to Saturday. There are no other changes to the 60 & 60A buses.
From Monday August 1st we are making minor adjustments to the times of the Stephensons operated trips on service 91. We will still run the same number of trips but the times are adjusted slightly to better match the timetable to traffic conditions. You can see the new times HERE.
Please note that the Hedingham Omnibuses operated trips have a new timetable which started on July 25, see details HERE. Do NOT use the times shown there for the Stephensons trips as the old times are still displayed - please refer to our new timetable as above.
Local independent bus company Stephensons of Essex has raised £500 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, following its popular Olympian Running Day around Bury St Edmunds on 4th June.
Six of Stephensons remaining double-deck Olympian buses, due to be withdrawn this year, provided the service on routes between Bury and Haverhill/Newmarket. In addition a guest Olympian from Fords Coaches provided free tours around Bury town centre.
Managing Director Bill Hiron commented: We were delighted to see so many people riding on and photographing these fine old workhorses – not just bus enthusiasts, but members of the public taking in the atmosphere on what was a fine sunny day. To raise £500 for such a worthy cause as the local Air Ambulance was an added bonus, and our thanks go to everyone who bought day tickets, souvenir brochures, or just donated on the day.
We are experiencing delays and short notice diversions to various bus services today due to flooding after last night\\\'s storm. Services in the Maldon area are particularly affected, including the 90 and 288, with services D1 & D2 getting back to normal.
Please bear with us, your drivers are doing the best they can in difficult circumstances.
Last August we started bus 23 from Belfairs to Leigh, running two days a week. Passenger numbers have been lower than we hoped for and the payment from Southend Council for carrying concessionary pass holders is poor, following the cuts they made in April 2015. Therefore we need to make two changes to better match the revenue with the cost of running the bus. So from July 26th, bus 23 will only run on Tuesdays and only when the schools are open.
Bus 23 will continue to run Tuesdays and Fridays until Friday July 22 and will then next run on Tuesday September 6th and every Tuesday in school terms. There are no changes to the bus times, which can be viewed HERE.
We are making some relatively minor changes to times from July 2nd, as follows:
Mondays to Fridays:
The 0800 from Halstead (0825 from Deanery Gardens) will follow the normal route into Braintree and will no longer operate via Braintree College;
The last bus to Witham (1838 from Braintree) is extended from Witham Station on to Collingwood Road; the last bus from Witham now starts from Collingwood Road at 1921 to Braintree.
The 1650 from Braintree is extended beyond Witham Station through to Allectus Way and the last two buses from Braintree are extended from Witham Station on to Collingwood Road; the last buses from Witham now start from Collingwood Road at 1801 and 1831 to Braintree.
The complete new timetable can be viewed HERE.
Our buses in Braintree will be subject to delays and diversions as a result of road closures for Braintree Carnival on Saturday June 11th.
The procession starts at about 1400 at Lakes Rd and goes via Railway St, Manor Rd, High St, Pierrefitte Way, Atheric Rd, Panfield Lane to finish about 1600.
There will be other closures for the set up and finish, Lakes Rd will probably be closed from midday until 1500.
All 38/38A buses from midday onwards until 1500 will run between Braintree and Witham via Rose hill in both directions. From about 1430hrs buses may need to pick up from the front of the bus park on South Street if Manor Street is blocked.
From 1510-1640, 38/38A to Halstead will run via Bradford Street and Braintree College in both directions and will not serve the High Street.
Service 21 will operate via Rose Hill in both directions during the above hours.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these closures which are outside of our control.

Sparrow End Hill, Newport is completely closed to traffic causing a very lengthy detour to services 59, 60 and 301.
The diversion route will be:
From Saffron Walden ( towards Bishops Stortford, Audley End etc)

Buses heading to Saffron Walden will use Wendens Road, ( the shared cycleway)
Buses will be running, but significant delays are inevitable.
All on-line orders received up to this morning (Tuesday May 31) have been despatched and the on-line sales portal is no longer accepting orders, as we cannot be sure any further sales can be posted to arrive in time.
Programmes will be on sale on the day from our information point in Bury Bus Station, adjacent to stands 8/9, look out for our controller in his orange high-vis. They are priced at £5 and include the bus working graph, a list of all departures from Bury and details of the free short city tours to be operated by a surprise guest visiting Olympian (not one of our fleet). Day Rover tickets will be available on all our buses from the driver, price £8.
We look forward to seeing you there on the day!
